Like many holiday makers, I had my first Super Bock lying on a beach in Albufeira when a local entrepreneur came along selling cold beers in the 30 degree heat of the Portuguese sun. It’s a great beer and triggers memories of relaxing in warmer climates. When Traditional Beer Company had the opportunity to add Super Bock into our gift collections, we jumped at the chance. The beer has won 30 consecutive gold medals in the prestigious international competition ‘Monde Selection’, and Super Bock is internationally recognised for its high quality. The pilsner style lager dates back to 1927 and at 5.2% ABV the beer is fair, bright and vivid with a very pure, white and creamy foam.
With its fresh aroma, slightly malty and fruity taste, average body and balanced flavour, the well-structured bitterness together with the sweet malt and the end palate is light and dry in the mouth. These are the features that put Super Bock on a higher level. This harmony universally pleases, it being widely appreciated by millions of faithful fans in Portugal and around the world who prefer its unique flavour. Super Bock is best served at 4-6 degrees C.
